ACTIVATE Workforce Development Program

What is ACTIVATE?

A large part of the recent hiring success at the ADOC can be attributed to the ACTIVATE Workforce Development Program. This partnership program between the ADOC and the Alabama Community College System identifies aspiring individuals and provides physical and educational training to meet the necessary standards.

This six-week course provides hands-on help with meeting the physical and educational standards for ADOC correctional officers. This also allows the participants to get paid as a Correctional Officer Trainees (COTs) while in training and receiving college credits. Upon completing the six-week course, participants will attend the 10-week APOSTC Academy where they will have the opportunity to earn certified law enforcement officer status.

The ACTIVATE Workforce Development Program has been responsible for enrolling 185 students into our APOSTC Training Academy with 165 graduating to become Correctional Officers. The 95% success rate proves that the ACTIVATE program prepares our graduates to excel in their career advancement.
